
The Emmy Award has long been considered the TV equivalent of the Oscars ever since its first presentation on January 25, 1949 at the Hollywood Athletic Club. The 59th Primetime Emmy Awards is held Sunday, September 16 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Amongst this year’s nominees we find Steve Carell (The Office), Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men), Hugh Laurie (House M.D.), Denis Leary (Rescue Me), Kiefer Sutherland (24) and James Gandolfini (The Sopranos).
